I haven't seen these in too many people's rifles here, but I wanted to find out if anyone has any experience with these.

I recently saw a person use one of these and is seemed like a good idea. I have never handled one, and given the price, I would like to hear what you guys think, Pros/Cons.

I was looking at this one:

Thanks

Hell, I wish they'd carve open the top for BDM mags.

Yes, they will.

I use one on my work rifle, it makes it easier to carry around the mandatory one magazine. Probably won't use it on the Carbine Domesticus.

I have had a redi-mag on my M4 since 06'.  I like using them and don't mind the weight.

Pro's: Quicker mag changes (my PSG and myself were bored one day and I think the average time it took me to change a mag and put it in my pocket was around 3 seconds), quick access to mag if you have to always carry one around.

Con's: Some say it's harder to do malfunction drills (get the model that has the seperate release and bolt release device), add weight to the weapon some say to one side

Thats all that I can think of at this time.  Most find that it's a love hate relationship with their redi-mags.  I just happen to be neutral.

I have noticed a lot of people buy or are being given them. But I am not sure how having the weight of the extra Mag. would be hanging off the side of my rifle. also at $165 the price I have seen posted I don't see the cost effect over my simple two Mag. holders.

The redi-mag offers the advantage of keeping the rounds covered, also the chance of a round moving forward is prevented also.  Another advantage is that you do not have to worry about if the magazine will fit in a mag pouch.  To each his own.
