| I was thinking of ordering a DPMS lower parts kit, should I consider something else? |
Not to sound trollish, but RRA is the only LPKs I've ever had trouble with out-of-spec parts (other than Model 1 junk). On two different occasions I had out-of-spec bolt catches. Stag/ CMT are probably my favorite. With that said, I've never had problems with DPMS, and at $44 a piece at Brownells, you can't go wrong. - AG |

This is the one I just bought from RB Precision: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=125&t=277221&page=1 I can't say how well it works since my SBR lower won't be back from Orion Arms until Friday, but they have good feedback and their customer service is superb. I emailed an hour or two after I ordered to ask them to add a crush washer to my order- it was already boxed up and ready to be shipped. They stuck it in the box for no charge. They will also personalize it however you want, I opted for a Rock River hammer assembly and Ergo grip. |

RRA only here, too. Do yourself a favor, and order an extra bolt catch pin. If you don't use a 1/4" clevis pin ($1.00 AT Lowes) to install the pivot and take down pin springs and detents, go ahead and order some spares of those, too. I don't know what is wrong with me, but that bolt catch pin eats my lunch every damn time. I think I finally have it figured out now, but it took me two builds to get it down. |

Used both a RRA and DPMS LPK because I wanted to buy local. No problems with either. DPMS's LPK price is hard to beat, and the quality/fit and finish is actually good. I have a feeling everyone uses the same sub-contractor... but if I was patient I'd get an Armalite LPK for $65 straight from their website |
I didn't see him at the show last weekend, I think they finally got the freman locked in for the new location and back to the regular schedual |
He should be in austin this weekend |
I have only used one DPMS kit so far (have another one still in the package). I often like to try things to find out for myself. I must have got lucky, but it actually has a nice, smooth trigger. We'll see how the 2nd one is when I finally get around to doing that one. I recently learned that Bill Springfield uses DPMS parts for his drop-in kits. That, my friends, is a solid endorsement for me. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=346341&page=7 My RRA trigger is OK, but not great. The DPMS kit went together easier than the RRA. At some point I also plan to give CMT a try. |
+1 for RRA that's all I will use. RRA lpk has really nice roll pins. If you are looking for cheap- Aim has CMMG LPK's for $56 I don't know about their quality. squig |
I, too, ask the same question. In my experience with DPMS, RRA, and LMT, I would say that one is just as good as the other. I would also venture to say that DPMS LPKs are probably used by more maufacturers than we know. That poses a question of which I would like to know the answer. |
That's a good idea. I love Jon's recievers. I might have to try one of his kits as well. www.anvilarms.com/pc-47-20-complete-lower-parts-kit.aspx |

I've used several White Oak Armory kits from Adco, Good price and high quality. www.adcofirearms.com/acc/productLine_.cfm?brand=White%20Oak&product_category=Lower%20Receivers/Parts They come without the trigger group, but you can buy a rock river trigger group from Adco for 25.00. www.adcofirearms.com/acc/productLine_.cfm?brand=Rock%20River&product_category=Lower%20Receivers/Parts |
lots of kits i have seen and personally bought had missing parts. parts out of spec. soft parts that would fail and allow the gun to double and triple after light use. these failures seem to be very common with other reports i have heard as well. I am done with dpms as a parts source personally. i have never had issues with busy's parts other than the trigers tend to need a bit of work to smooth out. that and the fact that damn plastic trigger guard just annoys the shit out me for the price they charge. |
| I've used 4 or 5 DPMS kits without issues. My last CMT/Stag LPK would not work on my CavArms lower. The extra material on the bolt catch got in the way. CMT also uses the selector type that CavArms says to avoid. I swapped out the offending parts with some spare DPMS stuff I had around. |
how long have you been doing this and how amny have you used. the problem with dpms is you never know if it's going to work or not. |
did those kits that you bought come in the DPMS clam shell package or a baggie from a vendor that claimed it was DPMS? All of my DPMS clam shell kits had metal trigger guards. |
\ every one dpms blister packed. i have never seen a dpms kit in a baggie ![]() BUSHY uses a plastic trigger guard not dpms |
