I was thinking of ordering a DPMS lower parts kit, should I consider something else?

The only one I will ever buy is RRA.

I have heard (from here mainly) that DPMS has some parts that are out of spec at times, kinda hit 'n miss.

Thanks for the heads up, got a good source for a RRA kit?

I only use the White Oak kit that ADCO sells.  Never had a single issue with it.

Not to sound trollish, but RRA is the only LPKs I've ever had trouble with out-of-spec parts (other than Model 1 junk).  On two different occasions I had out-of-spec bolt catches.

Stag/ CMT are probably my favorite.  With that said, I've never had problems with DPMS, and at $44 a piece at Brownells, you can't go wrong.

Can you do that anytime, order w/o  the trigger assembly, or was it from last years Christmas sale?

DPMS  worked for me.

$55.00 dollars each no tax no receipt

From the Saxet Gun Show

I buy them from the Mag Guy that looks Like Bob Sieger with short hair and glasses

All of the stuff he sells is in Big Alum cases and he has at least 12 to 15 tables

JTAC has CMT LPKs for 65 bucks good quality. Del-ton has LPKs for 55 bucks may be their brand or DPMS.

It's already been mentioned, but I'll second White Oak kits from ADCO. They can be purchased w/o an FCG which saves you a little if you're going with an aftermarket trigger.

This is the one I just bought from RB Precision:

I can't say how well it works since my SBR lower won't be back from Orion Arms until Friday, but they have good feedback and their customer service is superb.  I emailed an hour or two after I ordered to ask them to add a crush washer to my order- it was already boxed up and ready to be shipped.  They stuck it in the box for no charge.  They will also personalize it however you want, I opted for a Rock River hammer assembly and Ergo grip.

Armalite has great LPK's.  Excellent triggers and cool looking bolt catches.

RRA only here, too.

Do yourself a favor, and order an extra bolt catch pin.

If you don't use a 1/4" clevis pin ($1.00 AT Lowes) to install the pivot and take down pin springs and detents, go ahead and order some spares of those, too.

I don't know what is wrong with me, but that bolt catch pin eats my lunch every damn time. I think I finally have it figured out now, but it took me two builds to get it down.

Used both a RRA and DPMS LPK because I wanted to buy local.

No problems with either.  DPMS's LPK price is hard to beat, and the quality/fit and finish is actually good.

I have a feeling everyone uses the same sub-contractor... but if I was patient I'd get an Armalite LPK for $65 straight from their website

Buy RRA and extra parts mentioned above. If you decide to sell it a couple of years later, right here on the EE in 30 seconds.  In other words folks will buy used  RRA readily..

I've used six DPMS kits so far and all work as advertised. My only minor annoyance is that there is a very minute trigger creep but the reset is okay.

I have only used one DPMS kit so far (have another one still in the package).  I often like to try things to find out for myself.  I must have got lucky, but it actually has a nice, smooth trigger.  We'll see how the 2nd one is when I finally get around to doing that one.

I recently learned that Bill Springfield uses DPMS parts for his drop-in kits.  That, my friends, is a solid endorsement for me.

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=346341&page=7

My RRA trigger is OK, but not great.  The DPMS kit went together easier than the RRA.  At some point I also plan to give CMT a try.

RRA lpk has really nice roll pins.

If you are looking for cheap- Aim has CMMG LPK's for $56
I don't know about their quality.

I, too, ask the same question. In my experience with DPMS, RRA, and LMT, I would say that one is just as good as the other. I would also venture to say that DPMS LPKs are probably used by more maufacturers than we know. That poses a question of which I would like to know the answer.

I've bought and installed three of the CMMG kits from AIM Surplus, in three different brands of receivers (EA, Spikes and Stag) and all went quite well.  Recently helped with two other builds at a friend's house, using one DPMS and one Stag LRPK, and I really don't see any appreciable difference in them, before or after installation.  I don't claim to be an expert, but IMHO they're a lot like forged lowers these days.  All of them in the $100-$130 range are about the same.  All the LRPKs in the $50-$80 dollar range are about the same too.  Your time is much better spent on selecting your barrel and BCG.

I've used several White Oak Armory kits from Adco, Good price and high quality.

They come without the trigger group, but you can buy a rock river trigger group from Adco for 25.00.

lots of kits i have seen and personally bought had missing parts.

parts out of spec.

soft parts that would fail and allow the gun to double and triple after light use.

these failures seem to be very common with other reports i have heard as well. I am done with dpms as a parts source personally.

i have never had issues with busy's parts other than the trigers tend to need a bit of work to smooth out. that and the fact that damn plastic trigger guard just annoys the shit out me for the price they charge.

does an lpk typically come with a trigger guard and grip? if so, is it just standard a2?   im looking on adcos site and you can get that stuff with it.

the trigger in my cmmg parts kit sucked ass. additionally, there were extra parts i.e. a trigger. this is not something you would lose so perhaps they also end up with missing parts. i have not heard reports of this though

I've used 4 or 5 DPMS kits without issues.  My last CMT/Stag LPK would not work on my CavArms lower.  The extra material on the bolt catch got in the way.  CMT also uses the selector type that CavArms says to avoid.  I swapped out the offending parts with some spare DPMS stuff I had around.
