Was shooting Sunday and after awhile I noticed the hammer pin sticking out for the right side of the lower. I checked the left side and everthing looked ok, figured the pin must of snapped in half. I didn't want to stop shooting so I went to my 1st aid kit and stuck a piece of surgical tape over the pin and fired another 150 rds. When I got it home and took the pin out it was broken in the center. I've fired around 30,000 rds since 1988 thru 5 different AR's this is my 1st parts breakage. The rifle that the pin broke in was in my newest Bushmaster with about 1,300 rds thru it. Before any Bushy bashin starts I have another one with close to 9,000 rds thru it with only a few springs changed out and another one with a little over 5,000 rds and nothing changed out. I have a Colt with a little over 13,000 rds down the pipe with only springs changed. Long story short something finally broke but a piece of tape kept the rifle running.

I saw the same thing happen in a friends dads bushmaster. Doesnt mean anything, but odd. that too is the only part i have seen fail in thousands or rounds through ARs.

sounds like you had a lot of fun breaking it though!
