Well after buying 12 PMAGs and making a promise to myself I finally did it.

I gots me an LMT AR.

Stuck on an Omega Rail and EOTech 512 on it.

Went to the range and shot 75rds of black hills 77grn and 52 grn.

Had what I think was one bad bullet at the range when I let another guy try my rifle out. It was an armscore round that wouldnt chamber right and locked the bolt carrier forward...had to use a screwdriver to pry the bolt carrier back. Marred the front end of the ejection port a little but no big deal since i figure this gun is going to be used.

I mean really...I dont think a SHTF rifle would be nice and shiny for long.

Congrats on your first AR. Don't worry, LMTs are great.

on a lock up, or cross thread bolt stick, it is usually cleared by pulling tension on the charging handle and banging the butt stock on a hard surface straight --with the tension on the charging handle at the same time. Of course this has to be done in a safe manner as to the direction of the barrel pointing in a safe direction . That usually clears the bullet fast opening the cross stick.

+1

I was at Ben Avery shooting range here is AZ and had the same exact thing happen. First thing you should always do is remain calm. As bad as you want to pry that son of a bitch out you have to be patient.

The guy next to me noticed I stopped shooting and began to pack my bags.

He asked why I was already leaving after only firing 1 mag of ammo. I explained that I had a spent shell lodged in the chamber and I could not pull the charging handle back.

He explained to me that during the Gulf War he had the same thing happen to him. With my permission he took the rifle to the rangemaster, the range master allowed him to take the rifle over to the clearing stall and with 4 pieces of cut carpet on the cement table he slammed the buttstock on the carpet while pulling the charging handle straight down.

It released like a dream and no damage...I was very relieved and greatful that there was someone around who knew what he was doing.

JP Enterprises sells the chamber bullet guage and it only takes a second to check ammo . Being the same size as a chamber ,it will let you know if your cases are correct and prevent this from happening.  http://www.jprifles.com/1.5.1.3.php  Well worth the money and good to use even with commercial ammo.
