I seem to be having trouble removing the extractor pin on the bolt. Is there a special tool or something or is it just stub urn?

Push down on the top of the extractor. At the same time, push on the extractor pin using the firing pin.

Dont use Firing pin but instead your Firing pin retainer pin.  Push down with your thumb over the area where the extractor spring is located to relieve the pressure so the extractor pin will come out easier.
