I thought i'd be happy with a stock AR just because I always wanted one- but i can't help but notice things i want to upgrade. Currently have a standard CMMG, front iron sites mounted to barrel as is foregrip- How hard of a project would it be to remove current hand gaurd and iron sites and mount a troy 2 piece free float hand gaurd with iron sites mounted to the top rail. I've taken down my AR and with the delta ring tool its not too difficult- do the new free float rails attach the the delta ring? Am i still getting the same quality front iron site? Is it easy to turn an AR into a FF? |

You front sight is a gas block. There is a hole in your barrel that goes into the front sight and is redirected to your gas tube. The gas pressure from the barrel excapes into the hole, then to the front sight (gas block), then through the gas tube and the pressure blows the bolt carrier group backwards chambering a new round. If you get rid of the front sight you will need a gas block to allow your rifle to operate. You can get low profile ones that clamp on by set screws on the bottom. You can even go the cheap way and cut down your front sight like whats in that topic above that is pinned. Hope that is clear enough to understand. Good luck with the mods and don't forget pictures when your done. |
