I have a question. I am now wanting to apply to own a SBR. From what I understand you have to pay a tax, get a Police Cheifs signature and pass a background check as well as fingerprints. Well I can CCW and my main question is, do you have to give a REASON for wanting to own a SBR when requesting a signature? If so what would be the most politically correct reason. Me personally I just want to shoot SBR because they are LOUD and FUN. Esspecially in 7.62. I am in the military and not a "Local" raised in resident so I know NO ONE in the PD here where I am at in KY.

I have never gotten a LEO to sign off because I have all of my NFA stuff under my LLC.  You do however have to give a reason on your Form1 (to make an SBR).  I always put the same reason on every Form1 I apply for.  That reason is "add to my collection".  Even on my very first one when I didn't have a collection, I put "add to my collection".  It seems to work for me.

Do a Trust to get your NFA items.  If you dont and you leave your SBR unlock with your wife/parents in the house yo uare committing a felony.  With a Trust you can add such people as additional Trustees.

Aditionally there is no need for any fingerprints or LE sign off.  Trusts are far more versatile than personal ownership.  THey offer all the advantages of individual ownership like never having to file annual tax returns for an LLC or risk having your stuff befcome contraband if the LLC is dissolved and all the advatages of the LLC like multiple people being able to posses, no LE sign off, etc.
