Is there any point in putting any effort into selecting a charging handle? Are the simple ones Brownells sells good enough? What about the "gas buster" handles? This is my last compoent I need to buy! |

From what I found it dosnt really matter. They seem to be all the same, from what i read you can make a gas buster by putting a thin strip of rtv silicone around the curved part of the CH where it meets up with the reciever. Maybe somone will post a pic of what Im talking about. Get a regular CH, thats what i did. -Chris |
 here we go.....If I were you I would buy a regular charging handle with the PRI big weenie latch.$35.95 www.pkfirearms.com/store/get_item.aspx?id=275&action=display  when you start pulling back on the charging handle you'll quickly realize that the big latch is worth it's weight in Gold. Is the regular $18 going to be ok? Of course. Should you spring more for a $25 Rock River FORGED one - YES. Should you buy a Gas Buster charging handle like I just did 1 WEEK AGO!? Only, if you have to have the very best. It re-directs the gas, it's forged, it's got the best latch in the business, it also has more meat to grab on. The M84 is wicked bananas. |

It all depends on what and how you will be using your AR. We use the Gas Buster charging handles around here on all of our AR15's and M4's because most of the time we are using or testing suppressors. Without the deflection properties of the "Gas Buster", you get a face full of oily, hot gas--especially when firing full auto. In a standard AR15, it's probably not necessary, but if you ever get a pierced primer, or a blown case--you will wish you had popped for the upgrade. The gas buster charging handle is a little pricey, but worth it, I think. Allways wear shooting glasses in any case--good shooting. "God hates a coward..." |
