Well, since I live in CA I had the pleasure of building, rather than buying, my first AR. It's a locked mag CA legal rifle, but I love it just the same! Started with a stripped Double Star lower, filled that with a DPMS trigger kit and a Prince 50 Allen set screw locked mag release button, added a Magpul Grip, installed a 10 round mag (dummy 20, because it just looks cool), attached a CAA 6-way adjustable stock, and then topped it all with a 16in DPMS CAR upper with removable carry handle.
