I have a post-ban Colt Match Comp HBAR upper receiver, complete, with 20" barrel.  Would like to install standard A2 flash hider, understanding that this is now legal.  Have rec'd estimates of $150 and $50 for the work, wondering what your experience has been.  Advice?
Thank you.

Paid $100 for the same job on a post-ban HBAR, here in Phoenix.  Should be an easy job for smith/machinist with any experience, and could see it taking at least an hour of a smith's time. Had no issues with the work done.

Thanks.  Do you know if he just used a die, or did he take it apart and do the job on a lathe?  If the latter, was there any crown damage?

Send it to ADCO. You don't want threading that was done with a tap and die.

The barrel was removed and the thread single-pointed on a lathe. I had him install an A2 birdcage as part of the "job" so I didn't get to inspect the machine work prior to the installation of the FG.  No crown damage that I can see looking into the flash hider with a light.

Thank you for the advice, I've just sent Steve an email.  I appreciate the help!
