Ok guys, I used the search, and I'm now confused.


Can I sell/ship an AR upper to California???


Some say yes, some say no. I am very new to this. Please help.

Sure you can ship it, you just might get arrested is all


I'm going with NO on this unless it is a specific CA legal rifle.

An upper can be shipped to California. There are California legal lowers that can accept any available upper, as long as the barrel is 16 inches or more.

As an LEO, I can purchase AR-15's with all the "evil features" with a department letter. If I buy a separate lower, I need a letter as well. For an upper, I do not. The lower is the part with the serial number that requires registration in the PRK.

The upper is technically no different than buying other AR parts. It's a paper weight without the lower.
