Hey everyone I have a question about this new Young Manufacturing Bolt Carrier i received. It is the complete chrome national match bolt carrier and when I put it into my ASA flattop upper, it doesn't slide nearly as well as the previous one. In fact I had to really ram it in there to get it to go in. Once it is all in I can pull the charging handle back and pull the bolt carrier into the stock just fine, but it definitely feels tighter. Should I be concerned about this or is it normal for the NM Bolt Carrier to fit a little tighter in the upper? Thanks for any input! |
It better not be fitting tight in the upper. I'm assuming you are using a new bolt/rings which are requiring a bit more pressure to lock - - which seems like it is a tighter "fit". |
| I haven't actually taken the bolt out. I bought this thing as a complete bolt carrier assembly w/ bolt and the whole bit. But yeah the bolt did seem a little tight also when I flicked the bolt/carrier forward. Maybe I'll fire one round and check to see if the next round was loaded correctly... |
My Young NM bcg is tight right at the point where the bolt is making contact with the barrel extension. I have not had the chance to shoot is yet, but I think the little bit of drag is inside the bcg from being new, and not between the carrier and upper receiver as pointed out by Steve in his post. How many rounds did you guys put down the tube before going to the Young bcg? |

Mine fit fine an an already broke in Del ton receiver. Fit is good in my CMMG upper. It's pretty snug in my Fulton Armory slickside upper. I sopped the BCG in ATF (I'm out of CLP) and ran a couple hundred rounds through it with no issues. The shiny bling cool factor is great too. ZM |
Dump a full 30 rounds and that will loosen right up. It's the gas rings being brand new that causes that. Mine was so new you couldn't "flick it" to get the bolt to fall down. it'll loosen up after 1 mag.
