| I have a RRA entry tactical with about 300 rds through it. The charging handle is wearing the the top of the receiver on the inside and outside. All of the black is worn down to the bare metal on these parts. The right side of the charging handle is starting to get burrs on it. I put a lot of CLP on the parts and it still it wearing. When i go to pull the handle and let go little puffs of smoke come out of the rear of the charging handle channel. is this normal? |

Not in my world. My 1977 bought Colt has 8-10,000 rounds thru it, and while the edges of the handle, and the rear underside show some wear, it's nothing like you've described. Ditto with my more recent pieces. My first guess is that the channel for the handle is too narrow; but I guess it could be an oversized handle also. |

depends how much you use your charging handle. you could use your rifle for years, only using the CH when absolutely necessary, and it'll still look like new... or, you could spend a day in class doing different malfunction drills, and after 300 rounds there won't be a bit of finish left on most of the CH... |

It's not a big deal, the same thing happens to me. I practice malfunction drills a whole lot at home, so I have the same wear marks. The upper rear of the upper receiver's charging handle channel is worn down, and the top of the lower receiver right above the buffer retaining pin is also worn down. I've got 400 rounds through this rifle maybe? But I dry fire it something like 100 times a day. Youtube and Downrange TV man... |
