I have a small hole drilled in one of my lowers. I bought it used and I'm not able to post a pic of it. The hole is located in the rear of the shelf just behind the selector switch. It's about 1/16" in diameter 1/4" deep and is threaded. Anyone have any idea what this was for.

If it is a Superior Arms lower- its an over travel adjustment hole.

It is at an angle?  The hole for the grip screw goes all the way through.

If it's no that, then it's either for a set screw to tighten the fit between the upper and lower or for a set screw to remove take up from the trigger, depending on exactly where it is located.  Either of the above are not standard.  There was a company that added something like that, can't remember the name.

initial thought would be shred the lower.  but after reading your post a few times..
its possible that your lower was, at one time, a host for a DIAS.
no big deal.

but, i could be wrong

Better location- It's actually behind the takedown pin holes. If the hole was for a DIAS would I need to destroy the lower

No, the only hole you need to worry about is a GI autosear hole...  As long as that is not the hole, you are fine.

Curious.  Is the hole in a position where a srew run into it would push on the upper receiver and take out the slop between upper and lower.  This is a CMP service rifle legal modification that may indicate your lower was a service match rifle at one time.

No, doesn't look like it would contact that part of the upper.

What brand?

I bet it was an old CMP lower someone had setup to tighten up the upper/lower play
with a set screw. If it is behind the take down pin holes then it will contact that part of the upper.

picture of said hole so we can see exactly where it is in the lower?
