Hello all, I have the opportunity to trade my Kimber CDP Pro II for a Colt Target Match 223 in excellent condition. I was wanting to know the value of this AR and any other additional information about this rifle.. I am asking $1200 for my CDP which has had some customization done. Here is a pic of the Colt. Thanks in advance http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g303/chadeckhart/ColtAR-15008.jpg |
| I am certainly no expert but I have seen this go for as little as $900-$1,000. That is in the Pacific Northwest though so I guess area could affect value. Plus I am not looking at the rifle so it is hard to tell the condition. Make sure it is actually a target match barrel though and not an Hbar A2. The A2's will have a flash suppressor and the target's do not. Not that the flash hider lowers the value, but otherwise you would have pieces from different rifles. I hope that helps. Remember that I am no expert. |
Colt makes a nice AR, but I wouldnt pay $1200 for a used one myself. I bet if you looked around in the EE you could get either a Colt or an equal in quality for less than $1200 brand new. |

OK, my .02 cents worth... 1) The price you are wanting to get for your Kimber is an asking price. Looking at GunsAmerica.com and GunBroker.com, I can find pistols like yours (albet without the 'custom' work) for around $900. You have to realize that 'custom' work, even done by 'name' people might not increase the value of your pistol. Most of the time, you will be lucky if it actually doesn't decrease the value somewhat hinking.gif !!! Most people like to have 'work' they want on their pistol, not someone elses idea of what 'work'... 2) That being said about your pistol and the prices out there, that brings down the 'price' of the Colt to $900. That changes everything. I believe that $900 for a Colt Match Target is a very good price, even used slightly. 3) This brings around that an even swap, if it is still available, might not be such a bad deal. You will get rid of your Kimber and get a good rifle in the exchange. I have to remember that before the 'BAN', Colts could be had for $750-$800 and after, the prices doubled. They have receeded somewhat, but a Colt will always hold value over most others just on name alone. I'm sure the flamethrowers out there are lighting the candles, but, history has borne this out. It's always up to the seller/buyer and always their ultimate decision. But, if it were me and I wanted a (what appears to be an almost new Colt) I would go for it hat !!! Take care, Kelly (Cohibra45) |
That's a Colt thing. It's only been in recent years that they started putting "standard" pivot pins in their "civilian" rifles. Just one of the "non-milspec" things that the Kool-Aid drinkers seem to like. People here always bragging about Colt being "milspec", but Colt receivers are less compatible with milspec parts than any other maker of AR15s. This is just one example. |
| I am not so sure it is original. My 1998 Match Target Target Model came with a gov't profile barrel. My 1999 Match Target Match HBAR came with a heavy barrel. I have seen numerous Match Target Target Models in excellent condition going for under $800 recently; that seems low but that was asking prices here on the EE. |
