We have all seen the pictures of the guns and accessories, but does anyone have pics of the facilities where they are produced. The reason for this is that I think many on this board have a misconception about the size of some of these companies. We all know that Colt has a huge factory but what about Novekse, POF, LaRue, MAGPUL, Mega etc etc.... I want to see the mom and pops shops and custom shops and mini machine shops that pump out the products that we know and love. I think it would be great... So post away. |

I saw a pic of the Mega facility on either arf or sigforum. I am awaiting the delivery of two of their fine lowers. I actually kind wish I hadn't seen the pics of the facility. It wasn't very impressive. Just your average, everyday manufactuing facility. But then again, I live near an old Boeing plant and a plant that builds honest to goodness rockets, and it isn't very impressive from the outside either. I am looking forward to seeing the lowers though. I heard Oly's place looks like Sanford and Son's place. Figures. |
Those are some awesome photos!!! |
If you think the photos are awesome, you should see the place in person. Reed Knight is a super guy who has this wonderful gun collection on site. Jim |

Most will not let you take pictures inside. I've been inside Knight's Armament. I would estimate that the Machine shop (not inventory, assembly, Quality control, or the Night vision shop) is probably around 20,000 sq/ft. Overall it's pretty large when you include everything else. |
If you mean a picture of the outside of the factory. I may have taken that one. Picture Link
I was at MEGA this morning and the person showing me around would not let me take any pictures. Still a very interesting experience. |

www.lwrifles.com/miscpics/shop3.jpg Is the guy in the grey shirt carrying a 45. Is this shop in a rough neighborhood. Why does he need to carry a gun? |
Considering they have almost the equivalent of a small Army Reserve base's armory in there, I would hope some level of security and defense would be available if needed. |
Who cares. His boss supports the RKBA. |
Dear Chunky_Lover, Either living in the State of California has warped your mind or you are a troll .He is carrying BECAUSE HE CAN, IT IS HIS RIGHT AS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, HIS COMPANY POLICY ALLOWS IT, NOT TO MENTION HE WORKS AT A WEAPON FACTORY... ![]() it is unfortunate that in your state you cannot enjoy the freedom of carrying a firearm on your person, and i understand the feeling coming from another socialist police state (NJ), however questioning someone's 2A rights will not fly around here. |
If you have to ask, you are definately living in the correct state.

Im not complaining I just think its a little weird, not working with people that carry guns. I could see if there in a bad area or may be open to the public, because there is alot of money laying around in that place. |
You are so transparent =
|
Hey you need to calm down, dont have anything else better to do then to call me names. Where I come from you dont see anyone carrying a gun in public. Maybe I live in a fantasy land. I would love to be able to carry a gun on the job but that will never happen. I wasnt trying to cause any trouble I just dont see that every day and ive seen alot of factories in my line of work, of course Ive never been in a shop of that type. |
Actually, in the State of California, it is totally legal to carry concealed handguns at work or at home. 12026. (a) Section 12025 shall not apply to or affect any citizen of the United States or legal resident over the age of 18 years who resides or is temporarily within this state, and who is not within the excepted classes prescribed by Section 12021 or 12021.1 of this code or Section 8100 or 8103 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, who carries, either openly or concealed, anywhere within the citizen's or legal resident's place of residence, place of business, or on private property owned or lawfully possessed by the citizen or legal resident any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person. This is far more lenient than many other state including some where it is a crime to conceal a handgun even at home without a CCW. |

If you carry yourself you would probably see allot of people carrying too because you would know what to look for. (although probably not in your state) I notice people carrying all the time and I live in MA. I have no problem with it at all. I find the only people that get worked up about is the people who don't carry. After while a firearm is like your cell phone or wallet. You don't usually go anywhere without them no matter where you go. It's the places that you think are good is where bad things will most likely take place. "Be prepared" ~ Boy Scouts of America |
No, no way, what are you trying to imply! Guns are scary! What if it went off and hurt someone! Anyway, he would never carry a .45, that would just be totally unnecessary (especially when we have racks and racks of rifles nearby!) ![]() Its a .40 . On any given day I think there might be ONE unarmed employee in the entire factory, and I have faith that she could whoop most guys asses given the oppertunity. This is going to prompt much hilarity tomorrow.

About a dozen years ago, when gearing up to start Small Arms Review I went out to Scottsdale AZ to Visit the Dillon plant and spend a little time with Mike and Mark, his Production Manager for the Blue Press. While getting the tour of the facility the first thing I noticed was that almost everyone, young and old, male and female, was carrying some type of handgun on their hip. It made me feel warm and fuzzy and I instantly knew I was in a friendly place. Lots of smiles and lots of handguns. To the subject at hand, I have published photos of the Bushmaster plant and the Sun Devil MFG facility in past issues of Small Arms Review, but I don't have them at my fingertips to post online. Maybe they are still at the "Sample Article" page on the Small Arms review website. Not sure. Jeff Z |
Visit Virginia some time then. |
