I bought a stripped lower today with plans to build a trunk/truck gun.  I am really leaning towards a fixed carry handle and sticking with the iron sights.  I also thought about getting a flat top and a LMT BUIS in case I ever decided to add an optic. Thoughts?

If thats all it will ever be used for is a trunk gun, personally Id go with just irons. Maybe a flatop and removable carry handle. up to you

I vote for carry handle over flattop for your particular purpose. If it's going to be slung around, the A2 sights are more likely to keep zero better than buis in my experience.

A1 upper w case deflector and FA with the A2 aperture
A1 Front sight post
A2, A1, or sully stock
16" dissy style barrel

that would be an ideal trunk gun.  A1 upper because there is a lot less of a chance of the sights getting knocked out of whack as compared to an A2.  A2 rear sight aperture and the A1 style FSP are a great combo.  Fixed stock for this application is probably the best, A2 stocks are pretty easily found, A1's fit better, sully if you like it even shorter.  A 16" dissy style barrel would be great, you have a shorter OAL than a rifle yet the rifle length sight radius, a win win combo.  She certainly wouldn't win any beauty contests....but she'd be a work horse.

Sounds like the logical choice for a KISS rifle.

I would go this rout myself, just in case, but then again I am orse than a meth head. I tear shit apart and rebuild it all the time so who knos what would be on top of it in 6 months if it were me.
