| I'm looking to pick up a 3-4 lowers in the near future (within a month or so). I've been eyeballing the Double Stars on the EE for $95 shipped. Any reason to go with another brand? Recommendations? |
double star are fine...you pay more you pay for a name and POSSIBLY <and I stress the possibly part> a slightly nicer finish. Billet looks like You're about to have every brands fanboy come out and say that X brand is better than Y brand. <censored my language a bit....i'm in a really bad mood because of my PC's being a PITA> |
Not unless you want billet or you just don't like the rollmark
I have CMMG, RRA and Spikes, they are all equal in quality, the Spikes being the Cheapest and RRA being most expensive. I am about to pick up a few more lowers on my next trip to the states. They will be CMMG. Pick a rollmark you like or a price you like and buy them. |

I have had great luck with my GTS lower. It is made by Stag for Denny and I would highly recommend it for a $20 more bucks. GTS Lower |
+1 ...and for $15 more you can get the NoDak A2 lower which is void of a logo and rt side semi/safe markings. Also, I believe they are still made from a 7075 T6 forging unlike their 6061 retro lowers. |
That tends to be the board in general. People seem to forget that the receiver is just a shell to hold the FCG and mag. Any in spec lower will work as well as any other. If you are going for lowest cost, don't worry about a name or picture on the side. If cost isn't the driving factor, look around and see what you like, there are lots of options out there. |
Have there been any reports of DS lowers being out of spec? I see RRA, DPMS, Stag, CMMG, and other lowers for just a little bit more, but if the DS lowers are made within the right specs, that's the route I'm going. |
