I am going to explain this the best way I can. On my AR I have a flash hider. I have the crush washer on the proper way and my flash hider still goes about 1/4 way too far. The grooves of the suppresor are supposed to face straight down, right? If so how can I correct this without having to buy a whole new suppresor? If it is nothing to worry with let me know please!!!

new crush washer, re-torque and index flash hider.
or
get a peel washer

an A2 flash hider will have the flat part (without any slots) facing straight down

as posted above the slots face toward the sky, for the A2 hider. get a split washer and install correctly.

An armorers wrench is used in conjunction with a torque wrench if you desire to do it by the book. I simply use my armorers wrench or an open end wrench to tighten and index the FH by hand.

I have yet to have one come off.

Last visit to Barksdale AFB I saw an AFSF cop with an upside down flash hider. That wasn't you was it?

Sorry....just having fun.

Seriously, how much farther until the non-slotted section of the hider faces down? You may need to secure the upper in a receiver vise block and then turn the hider a little more until it indexes. If it is very far take the earlier advice and remove it and get a new crush washer or peel washer and start over.

Also be sure to install the crush washer correctly. It is cone shaped with a concave or inward curved side. This side should face the hider. The apex side should face the barrel.

Word of advice......be sure to protect the barrel when using any type of tool to turn the hider. I have slipped before and marred the finish of the barrel.

Good luck.
