I'm thinking about picking up my first precision rig (not that my GTS Operator barrel'd carbine isn't accurate as hell - thx Denny) in the next couple of months or so and had a question about keeping a log of round count with the rifle.

Do you guys keep a semi-accurate count of the # of rounds that you've put thru a SS barrel or just wait for the accuracy / precision to degrade and use that as an indicator that it might be time?

Thx.

I keep track of the rounds on my varmint rigs. SS barrel or not.

I place a piece of masking tape on the FF and mark the round count using a pen.

I also take my time cleaning frequently between rounds.

Max 20 rounds between a few bore swipes.

If nothing else, it gives me piece of mind. I have never shot a barrel to the point of losing accuracy. I just do not shoot any specific one that much.
