| How accurate are the iron sights? do you have to center the front sight post to the rear sight peep? Can you shoot a varmint at 250 yards with the irons sights? What exactly is the writing on my upper's rail? (T2....T4.....T6.....T8....up to T12) |

Not a hunter, but a small varmint (prairie dog) at 250 yards with irons would for me personally be a hard shot. A coyote at that distance I would think is easier. The markings on your receiver are “index markings”. They allow for the reinstallation of optics or equipment in the same location as it was removed from. Edited to add illustrations. | 250 yards is a long shot on a ground hog with irons. I couldn't even see a dirt pig at that range with out a scope. Coyote at 50 yards yes. At 250 yards your front post would cover what, about 20 inches? It's not a matter of accuracy, it's a matter of getting a sight picture. |
