Hope I'm not in the wrong area, but wanted to post some pics of my new rifle. I've been lurking on the site for quite some time and finally took the plunge. I didn't want to build my first one and I wanted a few extras to start with. She's a Bushmaster Modular Carbine 16". I'm brand new to the AR and this site has helped me a great deal in deciding what I wanted. These shots don't show the additions that I currently have on. I have added a Pmag, v grip, MI quick Dis. Sling adapt., Blue Force Single point sling, and finally an Eotech 512f.

I also recently purchased a light from Cabellas. Not sure how it is going to hold up, but so far so good. It is a XPG X-treme rechargeable 500 lumen light. I have fired about 200-300 rounds without it failing so far. If any of you get a chance this is the link: xpg x-treme

I'll get some pics of her with all the gear as well as a more formal range report in the future. Let me know what you think!

I like the gray fill on the markings. I'm going to do that to my rifles now.

Looks sweet!

thanks everyone - I used Model Paint on the fill. I thought it looked good with the teflon mags.

Welcome and nice first post!  The fill looks great.  I have the same rifle and it is my go to gun and functions 100%.  I have about 3K rounds through it and not a sigle problem.  I've got an aimpoint on it now and the ACE SOCOM stock.  I also put a chrome BC/BCG to makle cleaning a little easier.

HEre's some pic's of mine now.

However - you will find that the YHM rail weighs twice as much as other rails out there and the FS is a little bulky for my tastes.  I plan on replacing the rail with a 9" larure and putting the new PRI BUIS on in place of the YHM.  I also am replacing the VFG with the new BOBRO shorty and taking the light off.  It should help the balance of the gun quite a bit....

it is a little front end heavy, especially with my light on. I only use the light periodically so it isn't that bad. The BUIS are a little bulky, but they do their job. I'm about to go try the Eotech out to about 100 yards. I don't have a great bench, so my results could be mixed.

I really like the fluted barrel. You won't be sorry you got that. Very nice AR. Tell us more about the details of filling in the markings without getting it all over the rifle.

I used testors model paint on the roll marks. It wasn't as easy as I have read. I thinned it out with thinner so it would flow better. I used a very fine paint brush and a toothpick. The hard part was wiping off excess. I most likely was a little impatient. If I had let it dry it may have come off easier. thanks for the responses. I should have some more pics and a small range report tomorrow. I'll try to toss about 100 rounds with the eotech to get a feel for 100 yards. At 50 yards the group was somewhere around a 2" off a pretty unstable shooting bench. (im using a portable BBQ grill stand )
