I have a 16" M4gery with standard A2 Upper.  I showed it to my brother, who served with the Army and he told me that they always left the rear apature set to the 200-400m range (the smaller hole) even when shooting up close.

So, following his advice I sighted in my rifle with the small apature.  I have the rifle battle zero'ed at 50 yards.  All of my shooting is on a 100 yard range.  I think 200 yards will probably be the furthest I'll ever shoot it.

But I am now unhappy with my personal ability to see through the smaller hole and get a quick target aquisition.  I want to flip the sight down and use the 0-200m (larger hole) apature.

Will I have to re-sight in my rifle or will it shoot to the same POI?  Is there any difference to the height of the holes?  Anything else I should know on this subject?

On a standard A2 sight aperature there is a difference in height. You will have to re-sight in.

ok i am new with an AR and am wondering how to use the sights?  I know how to use pistol type sights but have never shot with ar15 style sights.  I need to know this before i can sight in my rifle.

So assuming it is sighted in (at 50 yards) with the 0-200 apt, when shooting out to further distances, and then flipping the sight, will that automatically make the correction for drop at the further target? Or do you still use the dial at the bottom of the sight?
