Anyone ever have a gas tube where the pin holes in the gas tube were just short of the pin holes in the FSB?  And what did you do about it?  I have tried three different gas tubes with same results.

doesnt sound like its your gas tube...sounds like some possible carbon buildup or dirt is causing a blockage.

It is a new FSB and gas tube and a new barrel.  I used a dental pick to see if somthing was in the gas tube hole in the FSB and nothing was found.

I would use a file, and take a little bit of material off the end of the gas tube that has the plug in it (the FSB end). Take a couple swipes with the file, and do a trial fit. Repeat as neccessary. If the hole alignment is close before filing, it will not take much to get things lined up.

ETA:
Also check for a burr in the gas tube hole in the FSB. Check visually with a light if possible.

Check the inside of the FSB. I had one that had crap in it and wouldn't let the tube go in all the way and once it was in there it was stuck!

Probably chips after machining. You can take a drill bit a little smaller and turn it with your fingers and pull the chip's/bs out.

+1

I’ve ran into that problem myself. Either a burr in the FSB or a burr on the gas tube it self. A little coercing and the gas tube “popped” right past the burr and the roll pin hole lined up!
