Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate for the max eff. range of an AR with both 16" and 20" barrell. Trying to figure out which to go with. Mostly for target with some light critter work when I go upstate. Thanks. |

You will kill critters at 1000+ yards (if you can hit 'em). 300 to 600 yards is very nice working range for the AR though. Longer barrel means faster bullet so environment has less time to work on it's travel, but accuracy is the same for ideal conditions. The longer barrel will give you a bit better balistics at longer ranges as well.
