I just finished my first lower build.  I'm looking at 10.5" uppers.  On some of the sites there is a note that says NFA rules apply.  I was looking at Larue but I noticed recently they stopped making a 10.5" now I have decided on the Noveske 10.5" with VIS. Would there be a reason I cannot buy this because of NFA or is that just a note for states like CA?

all rifles MUST have a 16" bbl OAL or its considered an SBR (short bbl rifle)

SBRs MUST be registered/tax fee paid/etc w/ the ATF and all paperwork must be legit or its Fed time (10yrs i believe+$100,000 fine, etc)

you can buy bbled uppers w/ bbls less than 16" w/ out the paperwork, h/w, any manf of an SBR is breaking Fed law w/out the NFA paperwork

NFA (National Firearms Act, 1934) has nothing to do w/ CA or other banned states--its a federal thing

also note, some sellers (i'm pretty sure) will not sell shorty uppers unless documents are presented

Thanks. So how hard will it be for me to buy a 10.5" Noveske upper?

Go to the armory section and read the NFA section there, it details everything.
