I have a New RRA lower that has a tight magwell. Now RRA said that I could send it back- & they'll look at it and  fix it or give me a new lower. But I do not want to be without my lower for a month or more. My question- Is there anything I could do to loossen up the magwell....DREMEL-SAND?

I recently bought two RRA lowers last month and both of the magwells are very tight.  I would like to know the answer to this as well...Dont want to send it back since I already built them.

separation anxiety?

you could sand it...or just use it a lot.  eventually it will wear out enough that they'll drop free.  Also try using NIB mags since with time mags will spread and might not drop free.

It would depend on how tight it is. I don't think I would go taking a Dremel to the mag well. If it seems like it's just a little snug and could wear in with use I would do just that, use it. If it is so tight mags aren't fitting at all I would send it back.

It might just be me and my dumb ass but 9 times out of 10 when I take the Dremel to something it ends up worse than when I started.

It might not be the magwell but rather the front of the trigger guard.  Check to see where it is binding because some have fixed the problem by just lightly filing the front of the trigger guard.

Are you sure it's the mag well? How many and what types of different mags did you try and how many other different AR lowers did you try those same mags in? I would definitely make sure it truly was a mag well issue before doing anything else.

If it truly is a mag well issue, how tight is it? I have a PWA lower that had a tight mag well at first, like you I didn't want to mess with sending it back so I just used it. It didn't take long for it to break in and drop mags free like every other lower I have.

RRA had to recall a very LARGE number of lowers that had been sent to two RRA Dealers here at AR15.com & send them back. Something happened with the specs on a batch of RRA lowers. Now I DID use new mags-Its just tight enough that the mag will not drop free...

Got a link to a thread with more specific info to back up that statement? Was tight magwells one of the issues listed? It very well may be true (these things happen) but I want to know what a "very LARGE number" is and what specifically was out of spec and what dealers where involved?

"New mags" doesn't mean much. Are they USGI mags (either D&H or NMHTG)? Do they fit as expected in any other lowers?

Don't get me wrong, maybe you do have a tight mag well? I can't say for sure from here but I do know that a lot of times "tight mag wells" really means "bad magazines". I'm just suggesting you make 100% sure it's a bad mag well before you go through the trouble of sending it back. Good luck

If you don't want to send it back;
I would try taking some steel wool, or very fine sand paper to the inside of the magwell. It might just be a thick layer of finish that you can smooth out a little bit.
Take a mag and give it a light coat of spray paint where it mates inside the magwell. When the spray paint is dry to the touch, insert it in the magwell, pull it out and see where it's catching. Then you can just buff, smooth out that area where the paint scuffed off inside the well.
