I just bought a used Mic comp from EE. It does not come with the lock nut that provided from the factory. Will a crushwasher work or do I have to have the lock nut from the factory. If I need the lock nut where do I get it. thanks

My guess is it would work fine without the lock nut, but you will most likely need to use a couple of crush or peel washers to index it correctly.

The best brake/comp  you can get!!

There are alot of Copies of that Brake

Anyone know where to get the lock nut. Crush washers dont really work.

I used a combination of peel and lock washers.  You just have to play with it a bit to get it indexed correctly.

Have any pics so I can see what it looks like?

You did ensure that Miculek was a thread on one? They also make a pinned on one as well. Taken off many ban era commercial Colt's.

Yes its threaded. When I threaded it down I need like 3 crush washers and like 4 peel washers just to get it to index. When you screw it on until it bottoms out, there is about a 1/4inch threads still showing on the barrel.

can you re-tap the threads deeper?

No

Let me ask you this. The barrel I plan on putting this on needs threaded. I was cut down from 20 to 16 inches. Can I just have a gunsmith only thread the barrel holf of what it usually is? Then I would only need a crush washer.

Yes, that will work.

Why dont you call DPMS and see if they will sell you a lock nut?

[#13]
Already did and they wont......I know I know, its pure BS. I will never own anything DPMS again if they cant help out with a simple lock nut.

They're sold as a set. Why would they sell you just the nut and be stuck with 1/2 a set that they can't sell?

Might can cut the back portion the correct thickness off a  standard flash hider.

there are a bunch of gunsmiths that can make knurlred thread protectors.....you could just have then make you one the thickness you need.  then just use it as a jam nut.

actually Midway sells one made by Schuster.  part#: 469-030  price:$14.99

just thin it or cut off a slice the thickness you need.

You would think that they would stock some in case some one loses it or in my case bought one with out it. Why sell spare trigger parts or detents when you can buy a complete LPK.

Not getting what your saying, but if you mean cut the comp that wont work.

You can trim that part down?

Just buy a nut or jam nut. Just find out what the FH thread is. I think it is 1/2-28.

yup....hack saw and file.  however, i like the idea of a previous poster better about cutting off the back of an A2 flash hider and using the wrench flats as a replacement jam nut.  A2 hiders can be had for $5.

I purchased the miculek muzzle brake and  I installed it on my RRA rifle.  I only used the jam nut with the brake and it left a small space between the nut and barrel.

I wonder if that will hurt anything or not?  Anybody know?

It won't hurt anything at all. That's how DPMS shipped their Miculek-equipped rifles during the ban.
