Does anyone have any experience with spin targets and .223?  I assume it would tear up some of the smaller ones designed for rimfire or small handguns; however what about the bigger ones for larger caliber hand guns such as the 44?

Thanks

I think anything 223/5.56 and FMJ will either perforate it or gouge it badly within short time, even for 44 mag ones.

It will not work, trust me, my buddy shot mine on accident, and gouged it almost all the way through.

I just got back from the range today trying out my tree target from reaction targets. We shot at it at 100m with my AR and my friends M1 Garand. The AR500 plate steel is not even indented where the 30-06 hit it. This thing will take some serious abuse.

I am in no way affiliated with reaction targets, but I know I am going out to buy some more of their stuff after seeing this today.

the range by my house had spinning targets for a while.  they got rid of them for liability reasons though.  we shot the hell out of them and never had one go through.  i thought for sure with the fmjs we were ruining his targets but we went down and looked and the only holes in them were from some one shooting some monster bore.

The ones they sell for 22's and handguns won't stand up to the 223.
Had some set up shot 1, shot 2, shot the third noticed the first stopped spinning, oops!
Three nice 1/2in +/- holes, now I shoot the 22's thru the holes.

I looked around a lot before buying....

The only target for me was the Port-A-Target highpower silhouette.

I allows you to shoot up to .308 as close as 10yards away with fear of rounds coming back.

I wanted a steel to shoot on tactical style courses I train on from 150 down to 25 or so.

Top quality, money well spent.

by the way get the rifle grade upright protector too... in case you throw a shot low on the run it won't damage your upright.
