My name is Chris and I'm new to this fine community. I've been trolling through the forums for the last few days and I have to say, I am very impressed with the amount of information this community has put out.

A bit about me, I guess. I am former Airborne Infantry, I was stationed with the 82nd ABN for 3 years and then became a Correctional Officer with the State of Arizona. So, I'm not new to firing M-16 and M4's; but I am new to the civilian world of AR's. :)

Now, I have a question for you. I am going to be buying the following AR from a friend of mine. It's in mint condition, has had less than 100 rounds put through it. Can anyone tell me from their experience with Rock River Arms what I should expect? Any suggestions on upgrades that I should make to it?

Thanks for your input, it'll be greatly appreciated!

First of all, welcome.

Second, I own two RRA's.  The reason I own two is after owning one I knew the quality and accuracy was such that I needed to have another one.  Buy with confidence.

Welcome to the site!

Have fun suffering from the dreaded BRD, and watch out for ammowhoreitis & magwhoreitis!

Yeah, I've gotten that subtle hint from the posts and other reviews I've read on it, but it's always good to hear first hand commentary, ya know?

BRD = Black Rifle D___?

Welcome.

The RRA entry Tactical is sweet, you won't be disappointed.

I don't think that rifle needs any upgrades. But that's just my opinion.  Lots of folks like hanging a bunch of crap off their rifles but that's not my thing.  The only thing I might do is save a little cash and put a nice optic on it.

Nice rifle. I've had one just like it for a year. Get to know it, and it should serve you well. At some point you will want to loose the Detachable Carry Handle unless you want to shoot only irons. All I have done to mine is add a sling, scope, mount and iron sights. If it shoots like mine it will prefer 62gr to 75gr. You should really like it.

I don't even think I'd really modify it with optics. I enjoy shooting open sights, to be honest. I was just curious if there were any trigger work I might consider having done to it or anything.

I have thought about possibly putting some Crimson Trace laser sights on it, (I have a CT fetish, admittedly). I was disappointed when Sig Sauer came out with the P229 with custom Sig CT grips installed...right after I purchased a stock P229!

But, not too much else is going to really go on it. I dont' understand how people can have so many different accessories on their weapon, ya know? Maybe...maybe I could understand having a Swiss Army knife add-on on the front grip for those hard to uncork wine bottles, but that's about it.

Oh, it doesn't have a detachable carry handle. It has a detachable rear sight assembly so I could change it out if I wanted to.

Unless you are picky about your trigger, it should be fine. Mine has a nice smooth transition from the first stage to the second. Once you hit that, it's easy. Consistant, even pull. You should like it. I must admit I am thinking of rails.

+1

Enjoy those young eyes. You have a confirmed case of BRD. When you hit my age (53), you will also have CRS and CSS.
Welcome to the disease. Have fun.

Haha, thanks for all the replies, gentlemen.
I look forward to joining the ranks of the AR15 owners and shall post pics once I get mine in my hot little hands. :)
