I posted this over in the california hometown forum but only got a few replys. Question is...The fab 10 lower has a sealed magazine well and the magazine is fixed with a set-screw and a rivet. What i want to do is drill out the rivet and have the set-screw be the means of keeping it a fixed magazine (in order to satisfy california law). I would still have to crack the gun in half to load and use a tool(allen wrench) to remove the magazine. What i'm trying to achieve is a way to pre-load an extra magazine so i dont have to carry loose ammo. It would also make unloading much easier. Does anyone familiar with the california assualt wepons law see any problem with this modification? Thanks

Having a magazine is fixed is perfectly legal. Turning the set screw to drop the mag is not. If you want to legally drop the mag get a bullet button at tenpercentfirearms.com or coldwarshooters.net

So what would be the difference of using a allen wrench (tool) to loosen the set screw to drop the mag vs a bullet (tool) to drop the mag on the bullet button?

repeatedly turning a steel screw in and out of an aluminum receiver won't give you the service life you would like.
