I just installed a aftermarket extractor spring.  It was really hard to install, and the spring is so strong that I can barley get the extractor claw to move mannually.  the movement appears to be almost nonexistent.  I bought it through Dennys, I believe it was called a JD.  Should it be that tight, I will try it out tomorrow, does not seem loose enough to even open up enough to allow bolt to go flush with brass rim upon action charge and allow extractor to slip past rim.

It's normal. Bolt insertion into the carrier should loosen up a bit with use. The bolt face will grab the brass rim as it did prior to upgrade...just with a little more muscle.

That is normal but if you find an issue during your next shoot, try to a #61 O-Ring at your local hardware store.  I use the #61 O-Ring by Danco Company.  The dimensions of the O-Ring is 9/32 x 5/32 x 1/16.  I've used them for three years now with out any problem.  They do the same as your spring but cost .59 cents.  Also the D-Ring which has been brought up before on these forums, does the same thing as the O-Ring.  Just put the O-Ring over factory extractor spring and assemble as normal.

Just curious, why did you change it out? Were you having extraction issues?
Not that I disagree with changing it out. I personally use the wolf spring from brownells, it’s so damn strong I have to use pliers to squeeze the extractor onto the bolt to put the retaining pin in. But I feel the extractor can never be too tight.

I put in the extractor spring after some cycling issues.  I have a colt hbar match comp. 20" barrel.  I have cleaned and polished chamber, it has alway had slight issues especially with the wolf ammo.  I am at about 1,200 rounds, and i will have a 1 in 70 cycle issue with umc .223, I feel that it should cycle flawlessly.  I will try the oring suggestion and factory spring after I try the new spring.  I feel better to hear that some people need to use pliers to  put the pin in, I just about made my fingers go numb when I did it.

Cycling issues?  With a Colt?  No f'ing way.   That only happens with 'tier 2' gear.

With a Wolff XP extractor spring I saw no need to add O rings or Dfenders.

My Carbine has a Wolff XP spring with blue insert and it has been working fine for 13k rounds of Wolf (+/- 1k)

your gonna get a stuck shell in there once in a while when shooting Wolf ammo. bang the sucka out and continue shooting. no big deal.

I use Wolff Extra Power extractor springs in all my AR's. I have found they cure problems in ar's with short barrels.

I'm using the BCM SOPMOD extractor CS spring upgrade kit, they're slightly harder to install but they work great on my two carbines.

The kit also includes the new black extractor insert, standard on all current US military carbines and rifles also a Crane O-ring.

I'm only using the extractor springs on my carbines because it's so strong I feel that the O-ring are not needed.

On my 20" rifle I'm just using the O-ring and black extractor insert, it works fine for me.

I got my BCM extractor kit from Bravo Company and Denny's Global Tactical.

If you have extraction issues with PMC after shooting Wolf, I'd think you aren't getting your chamber clean.  The Wolf ammo doesn't expand because it's a steel casing, which allows carbon to get into the chamber.  Then, when you shoot brass ammo, the brass expands and welds it self into the carbon in the chamber.

I am too, but along with the O-ring.

Ive used extra power extractor springs for years and its shown in the reliability of my guns.
