I'm thinking about getting a bipod but don't have a rail/mount on my AR15. Just wanted something for the range. Is there a good inexpensive one out there that would work without a rail mount? Thanks.

I wouldn't call it inexpensive but TDI (sold through Command Arms) makes one that along with an adaptor will mount to a bayonet lug.

Harris is the best IMHO. Mounts to a QD sling swivel base.

Look for one of the fiberglass knock-offs of the old GI bi-pod.

Harris looks nice. Can I get an adapter to mount to the bayonnet lug?

Probably not from Harris. Why would you want to ? If you have a FF handguard, you are better mounting the bipod to that rather than the barrel (which will affect accuracy). If you have a regular A2 handguard, I think you can easily get adapters for a QD sling swivel base that bolt right on. Putting the bipod directly on the barrel is about the worse place to put it IMHO.

By the way, if you are on a budget, I've seen some Chinese ripoffs of the Harris in WalMart. I have no idea whether they are any good, but you might take a look. Personally, for an extra 30 bucks I'd rather have the US-made Harris.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check around for the Harris and QD sling swivel mount.
