I can't remember if it was 84 or 85 but it was a Sendra A1, came as a kit with all M16 parts (minus the auto sear).  Back then I'd have been 21 or 22.  I still have the rifle.

January 2007, a Colt 6520 when I was 53.

ETA - There may be an insidious onset of BRD going on here - I now have five complete, with a spare upper squirreled away and parts for one more (that's it, I swear) build on order.

Last year, I was 32 before I got my first AR, an RRA Entry Tac w/ a YHM free float rail.  That upper is now my .22LR upper, and the lower is attached to a RRA mid-length upper w/ a Leupold CQ/T.  BRD shows no mercy!

The first I bought was this year, a Stag M4gery. However the one of the type I WAS GIVEN was in 1968.

Had an Olympic Arms XM177E2 replica, short barrel and long flash suppressor installed.  It looked cool but the accuracy was only so/so with the short barrel.

First AR-15 was my Rock River Arms Entry Tac last month (July 2007). 45 yrs. old (I feel like I'm still a kid or at least think like one).  This month brought me my second AR-15 (Bushmaster Modular Carbine).  BRD is insidious and takes over your being.

Age 28, Bushy "Shorty AK" with 14.5 inch barrel and AK-74 muzzle break!! Bought November 1998!

I could not find hearing protection heavy enough for that guns "crack"!

Sold it to an Ex Marine at work because he was in the market in 2004, because when the ban ended Septemebr 10th i bought what i origninally wanted an AR-15A2, 20 inch, H-bar(Looks exactly like a M-16A2). This was my second "AR" Even has "Government or Law enforcement use only" on the magazine well. This gun sat for 4 years on the dealer shelf because he could not sell it to a civilian. I was a Peace officer and could have had it but i kept my word and said i would not own anything my friends and neighbors couldn't!

Last week i picked up my third Ar a Colt SP-1, circa 1978, in primo shape!

Hmmm......Oly PCR-16 post-ban, bought Aug of 2000, I was 25.

While it is down the road ( and I sold it for a profit right before the ban ended!! ) I never had an issue with it. current ride is a mix-master Bushy lower with a Del-Ton upper.

1992 my first AR a Colt Blue label 6601 HBAR $650.The furniture was more black than the rifle....traded even a year later for a 20" factory Bushmaster that is now a carbine...Kinda wish I still had it it be worth a few bucks here for sure.

My first AR-15 was a brand new Colt SP1 back in 1971, I was under 18 y/o.

It was a birthday gift from my Dad.

The first one that I purchased myself was a new Colt R6500 SP2 rifle, which I traded my old SP1 in 1984 (now I wish that I had kept my SP1 ).

1986.  Oly rifle kit, A2 handguard and stock, but A1 upper receiver, heavy barrel.  But back then they were better known as SGW.  Yes, the receiver had the "Stop Sign SGW logo".
