I just got a new Bushmaster 20" A4. I cleaned it last night but I have a few questions. 1. The rear take down pin and the pivit pin (rear mostly) were in very tight and took alot of force to push them far enough over so that the upper coud pivet then come off. 2. I heard that i should clean all the factory lub out and put my own in. I just cleaned the barrel, but figured id leave the lub where it was needed elsewhere, should i go back and redo it with my own? Thanks, |

1. It's new, it will loosen up over time. It's better to start out tight, then wear in than it is to start loose and get sloppy. 2. No need unless you are experiencing issues. Make sure you lube the hell out of the bolt. AR's like lube. No lube in the chamber or bolt face though. When I clean I am kind of anal, so I end up cleaning it dry, then re-lubing as required. |

Tap the pins, dont push. Use a wood dowel or the plastic end of a screw driver so you dont mar the finish. After a few thousand rounds, she'll loosen up and you wont care how you tap on the pins...but my fingers work now on all of mine. Be careful what you take off...there are springs and pins and ball bearings in the lower...The most famous one to get lost is the buffer retaining spring...that thing likes to get air time 24/7. |

Make sure the bore's dry before you fire it. If there's any grease on the weapon then clean it off well. Keep it well lubed, i.e., bolt carrier & bolt externals & lugs, the first few hundred rounds & then a light coat of CLP should serve you well after that. Have fun & post some pics of your new love. You don't have to keep it white glove clean, but make sure it's at least lubed & free of abrasives or other debris that can foul proper function/create blockages. Congrats & enjoy your AR.
