What is the purpose, advantage, etc. of the R-4 profile?

If you ever feel the need to attach something (SBS or Flare launcher), you can. Other than that, not a whole lot. My RRA has an R-4 barrel. It shoots well enough.

The advantage now: ~~it's the HOT ticket, YOU on the hayride, the "IN" thing...~~ personal preference..
