If it could be broken down per weapon, about how much do you think our armed forces pays for 1 M 16? |
|
Completely a guess... but probably $420ish for a bone stock M4. (I saw the figures once and they were in the $300 range for M16's, but then the Army doesn't buy M16's anymore, they are obsolete.) The military is buying volume. The list price for a soldier who loses one will probably be around $850 or so. <Yes they charge soldiers... YES, loss almost never happens. |

You get charged 10% of the item value as punishment, in addition to the Article 15 and any reductions in rank. Though much depends upon the report written. I once wrote a damage report on a M60 GPMG which my Section Sergeant ran over with his M113 APC. He got off completely after being protrayed as just a half step below George Patton in his various military capabilities. The M60 was written off as a regretable but acceptable loss given the intense training atmosphere involved. Thereafter, I became the PSG's designated hitter when anything needed to be put on paper. |
Yet another tragic boating accident! |
