I own zero rifles for that (red dot user). Im gunna make this M16A4 and put a cheap 10x fixed mildot on it, so I can half assed participate. Lol. Maybe sell the whole upper after. There are like 6 rifle classifications to shoot in, seems like a packing nightmare. |

I have an A2 upper, with the Smith's match peep sight and matching FSB that I bought used because I thought it would be interesting to get in 'service rifle' type matches. I thought "basic, fine tuned rifles should be easy enough". Once I saw what else I'd have to invest, the receiver got mothballed. I'm adverse to 'hassle' these days lol |

Grabbed this great condition m5 ras the other day as the first part for my clone, i’m looking to try and build this rifle with parts as close to this date rail as i can. I ready through page number 1 of this thread and would like to see what other information could help me keep this rifle as close to this manufacturer date as i can. Markings, key part characteristics etc…. Any info would be a great help!Attached File |

We're there many A2s in your unit and what optic options were available to you? I'm not the SME but I dont think Army had many A4s, most of the pics I've seen are from 3ID and are pre 2007. |

Those gooseneck optic mounts.... Did they work correctly with the detachable carry handles? I have a USGI gooseneck, it seems as if it just doesn't sit right.... Like the side towards the front sight seems elevated, or angled. |

I previously mentioned that we switched to M4A1 with M68 CCO in 2007, but we did have some prior to that. Here are 2 pictures of me baby sitting a bridge over the Euphrates river that were taken in 2005. In both pictures there is an M4A1. All the way on the left side of one picture and in the other picture you can see the butt of the stock in the bottom right corner of the picture. Yes, they do, as long as you have the correct sight height/mount to cowitness(F vs non F for fixed) at your preferred height(1/3 vs absolute). Its a bunch of additional weight on the receiver and is pretty unnecessary to mount an optic unless you are required to use the carry handle by SOP/orders. The guys who actually used them could probably explain better than I can. |

The memorial service was held for the 30 Marines and a sailor whose lives where lost in a tragic helicopter accident near Ar Rutbah Jan. 26 and three lost during the battle for Fallujah in Nov. 2004. | I have a question about M16A4 rails. I remember in GWOT our rifles had both KAC and Armalite rails. When ever I look at pics of clones it seems like only KAC rails are used and I don't even see Armalite rails mentioned. Are the Armalite rails less desirable, or harder to find, or what is the reason? |

Are the Armalite rails less desirable, or harder to find, or what is the reason? One reason that I ask this question, is because I'm going to build an A4 clone and I have two sets of rails. One is KAC and one is Armalite. I've always liked the Armalite rails a little more than the KAC. |

I installed a Stuff and Things "CARL" three round burst limiter, with a Cornfire MARC forced reset trigger in my A4. I haven't live fire tested it yet, but it passes all dry fire function and fit testing. Moved my accessories to my M4gery from my M16A4. This is my AZR 3-pos host, too. This is essentially a 1:1 copy of my OSUT rifle, minus the P&S gangster grip. Attached File |

I qualified with an M16A4 with a Matech rear as my last rifle qual before I was discharged in 2019. The arms room guy thought I was retarded. 40/40... Still got it.

The only ones running around with them were low-ranking desk jockeys or units that never deploy or their idea of a field exercise is setting up tents in the parking lot behind their office. |
