Greetings,

I am looking to pick up a Kel-Tec PLR-16 and want to throw a flash hider on there. I have seen pictures in the past of some fat ones with a Rhino blowing a flame that was pretty cool. Anyone know the story on those?? Any others to check out?? With all my ARs, I just went with whatever the upper had on it when purchased and never did much research on them. Searching for info isn't going well either, so I thought I might get some better results by just asking Thanks

its a KX3 by noveske and it's a flaming pig, not a rhino.

I have a vortex and it works very well. I think the noveske one was designed more for SBRs but it will still fit on your rifle.

I like the plain jane A2 with the closed bottom.  Works for me, and doesn't cost $70 or weight 4 lbs...

I use standard A1, A2 and Early Viet Nam 3 prong hiders.
I had a Vortex, but one of it's fingers cracked and fell off.  I was not impressed with that, so I went back to Mil-Spec hiders.

For flash supressors, the Phantom and Vortex both seem to be top-notch (but I prefer the Phantom because it's cheaper).  For barrels longer than 16", I think a standard A2 is fine, and I'm not sure there's much improvement to use something like a Phantom, even with "flashy" ammo like M193.

I'm not sure if the Noveske is a flash supressor or a flash hider (or some combination of the two), but I don't like it simply because of its size and price.

I remember seeing a comparison video and the Vortex was slightly better than the Phantom.

The Vortex is also the easiest to install (hand tighten it and fire), and supposedly aids accuracy a little bit, as well.

Interesting. using the same xm193 ammo...

The 11.5 barrel with standard flash hider has a huge flame...

the 14.5 with standard flash hider has almost nothing....

edited to add: next year my LE agency is going to also do a nighttime qualification. I was thinking of changing my flash hider. Now? not so sure...

I AGREE

I also own PHANTOMS on my 14.5 M4`s

I Think the PHANTOM is BETTER better than the VORTEX !!

Main reason the Phantom can be Bought with a CLOSED BOTTOM
so there will be NO DUST KICK UP

Plus the Phantom is  ALOT CHEAPER
