I am purchasing a .22 conversion kit for my rifle and would like to shoot it with my .22 silencer on my AR-15. I still will be shooting 5.56 through the same upper at times though. Swapping a muzzle device on and off my rifle that requires a crush washer isn't that practical for what I looking for. Can a A1 Suppressor, Phantom Flash Suppressor, or a Bushmaster CAR15 Shorty Look Suppressor be used as a muzzle device/thread protector when I am not shooting .22, and when I am shooting 5.56 instead?

I use an A1 flash suppressor as a thread protector on some guns.  It doesn't need to be indexed, so no need for crush or peel washers.

With an A1 FH al you need is a lock washer.

You don't "need" any washer especially if you are only going "hand tight".

I just went ahead and got the 5.56mm suppressor and QD Mounts for both my barrels because it is MUCH cheaper to buy a new QD mount if it gets buggered up than it is to buy a new barrel should you damage the threads. Also, each time you are swapping devices you run the risk of damaging the crown on your barrel.

I guess it all depends on how often you swap. Generally my Suppressor stays on my Duty weapon and only comes off when I want to shoot my HBAR.

Get a peel washer instead of a crush washer.

ETA/ How's that Fiberite stock working fer ya?

Hey!  The stock is great!  I slightly modified it (as pictured here: M&P15A Modified Fiberlight Tele-stock )

I have on my desk, two small insignificant items that I need to send out to ya.  I have been so busy with the police academy that I just keep putting it aside.  A week from today I will get them out to ya!

Thanks again man!
