The Colt barrels/uppers I've used for most of my builds have markings I'm pretty familiar with, for example, one has "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7" stamped on top of the 14.5" barrel near the muzzle, and has a C AF forge marking on the upper receiver. This barrel has the grenade launcher cuts and the front sight base has the F mark, with forging code J 8 I2. Right now that upper is on a KT Ordnance DIY lower; one of these days I'm going to have to get an appropriate Colt - 6920, I guess - lower for it. However, I have one I'm curious about, that's marked "M4A3 C MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR" on the (14.5") barrel, and its upper receiver has a Diemaco stylized D as well as a "broken A" or whatever you call that mark. This one has no cut on the barrel, the front sight base has no F mark and a forging code B5 I1. (By pure coincidence, that upper and barrel was built on a Colt AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine lower.) I looked at several of the picture threads but couldn't find these markings listed. I've seen some M4A3-marked barrels, but they all had the cuts and weren't full-length HBARs like mine. Is the M4A3 HBAR anything unusual, or standard production? |
