| What are the primary advaatges of FF rails? I am trying to decise if it is worth getting them over standards, What are you guys opinions? |
|
Some advantages of FF rails are they weight less, more solid than 2 pc handguards, keep pressure off the barrel, etc. Downside is they're harder to install (w/ saying harder I mean you need to have the right tools and hope you don't have a perm. attached FH). Also many ff rails cost more than the 2 pc handguards. |
You are behind the times as there are more than few no special tools required FF rails nowdays, which don't require the removal of the FSB or perm FS to be installed. Check the MI button above. mike |
Well I didn't mention MI or TROY rails but mr_wilson is right. My post was concerned more w/ KAC, DD, Larue, etc. 1 pc. ff rails. |

Free Float! Every time! No exceptions! It's not at all necessary at close range, but it hurts nothing if you also use a down grip for the times it's very hot or very cold. There are NO downsides to FF tubes except a little extra cost. (and that's as little as $25 extra, but sometime much more) If you mount a rail at the 6:00 position for down-grips and lights, it will cost about another $20 on a standard FF tube. |

For a no special tool required installation and a rock solid rail system. Troy Industries is a good choice. There are more out there but I have no first hand experience with them. Someone wil chime in on the others but my Troy is Rock Solid and took about 15 minutes to install with hand tools and a dremel. I would not hesitate to buy another Troy |
The KAC RASII is a two piece FF rail that doesn't even require removal of the delta ring and standard tools are all that is needed. Not piling on, just stating that there is another entry. |
ORLY? ![]() If it were just about looks I never would have been married. |
