I'm thinking of getting an 18 in RRA varmint upper. What kind of accuracy can I expect. Also what kind of trigger should I get? Also, what kind of scope should I get ? I'd like to keep the triger under $200 and the scope under $300. This site already made me get 3 ars. Help me spend more money. |

I have the 20 inch version (Varmint A4) and I love it. I shoot 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tip only and it is probably 1/2 MOA. I purchase bulk IMI surplus, pull the FMJ and load with the NBT. Luckily I still have a lot of it left..... It has a bushnell banner 6-24 scope, sits on a DPMS lower (purchased from CMMG before they carried their own) and has a RRA 2 stage trigger in it. It is my dedicated prairie dog gun and works well out to 250 or 300 yards. I have never worried about going beyond that. |
I dont have any experience with black hills, so I cant comment on that..... I would recommend you try Ultramax. It is what I used before rolling my own and it works WELL!! You can get it bulk at cabelas AND i think cabelas has a $20 off $120 purchase running right now.... Ultramax 223 My upper is a regular flat-top. I have looked at the Elevated ones and I think they are kinda funky.... Just depends on what you are looking for. |
