Personally, I'd go with the IDF clone with A1 upper and lightweight barrel. You already have a 20", a retro, but still a 20", and you have an M4 type carbine(6920) to trick out if you want. I think you need a KISS lightweight carbine.

I'd go with item #1, the 20 inch A2 clone.

Tough choice. I have #1 and #2 and love them both and would hate to have to pick one over the other but considering you already have a 20" rifle and the purposes you listed, #2 (A1\M4 hybrid) would be your best bet.

I was thinking of the A4.  That might be a viable option...as for the A1 craze, I just had to have one!  After growing up on a steady diet of 80's action movies, what American boy wouldn't want one
