Recently I purchased my first LaRue FF tube, and a new CMT M4 upper. I definitely don't believe that the upper is out of spec, or the LaRue tube, for that matter especially. What I can't stop from happening is the damn ejection port cover rod keeps wanting to slide forward, as it has nothing to stop against. I don't know if the ejection port cover rod is too short, or what, which after looking at it, it seems like it could be a logical fix.

The question is, does anyone make a longer ejection port over with the slot for the C-Clip in the same place? I searched in the Archive, and apparently Armalite makes something or other, but is it a longer rod, or is it flared at the end?

Please help, I'm annoyed.

Can it slide out, or just able to move forward a bit?
a little movement is ok.

The rod can slide forward enough that basically what happens is the utmost rear of the ejection port cover will drop down(The rear of the rod slips out of the rear hole and forward), and then you have to piss around with it, line everything back up and then slide the rod back in. I don't know if the reciever is out of spec, or if the LaRue Barrelnut is out of spec, or if the rod is too short.

No pics. That's the most utmost simple explanation. Too hard to provide a picture of the affected problem.

Sorry I don't have a link, I  vaguely remember a thread about this. Is it sliding forward through one of the holes in the LT barrel nut? Seems like someone added a second "e' clip somewhere to keep it from sliding forward.

No. It doesn't even come close to the holes before it slips out. I'd say it has about 1/4" of play before it touches the holes in the barrel nut. Hell, it's not even long enough to touch the barrel nut, actually. Some of the Archive searches I did turned up that adding a second C-Clip right next to the spring may be my best option, or so it seems.

How long is it?
I just measured one and it is 3.850" and there is no chance of it falling out.
Can you just buy a new pin?

Length is the same. Does yours actually touch the outer part of threaded part of the barrel nut, when you look down the side of the upper? Does the pin come in contact with any part of the barrel nut at all?

I had the exact same issue with my DD M4 Rail and the Ejection Port Cover Hinge Pin.  Simple fix: add another snap ring in the left side.

I got 4 hinge pins and 4 snap rings at Midway.  Placed the dremmel tool and thin metal cutting disc in the vice.  Slowly mark a shallow indent 360 degrees of the pin.  I had to sacrifice 2 of the 4 pins (tried it about 15-20 times to practice).  Once completed and snap ring fit checked add a drop of Birchwood Metal Blue for aesthetics.

Hope this helps.

I have a new DD M4 Rail that the pin stops with the bbl nut.  Same for my Larue Rail too.

My problem was with the older DD M4 Rail.  All my upper receivers are CMT M4 also.

Issue resolved thanks to Denny at GTS. Will most likely post a quick tutorial fix for it when finished, with pictures.
