So my father and I will be going shooting this weekend. Taking my son, gonna just spend some quality time at the range. I'll be shooting my Bushy for the first time. Got lots of ammo. Any tips for a first timer? I've had the rifle for a while just haven't been out with it yet. Thanks for all the help!

Safety, safety, safety!!  Clean and lube the rifle as per manual before shooting it!!

By all means have fun!!  I wish my Dad was still around

I will do that. I've also heard that I should fire 1 round, run a patch through, and repeat, etc. Is this true? Others have said just go for it.

PS. I understand that I am very fortunate to still have my father around and to also have him as a friend. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure my Bushy doesn't have an SS barrel. So if I simply clean and lube before shooting I'm good to go? Thanks again for all the help.

Bought my first BM AR 2 or so weeks ago.

NIB- brought it home, grabbed the CLP, pulled the pin, sprayed down the guts, ran the bore snake thru it once, loaded it up and shot the heck out of it.

Little lube and you should be good to go.

enjoy.
