I have heard that Rock River Arms' AR15 buttstock tube has different threads than other brands is this true? What is the difference really between them and others? I dont mean opinion wise I mean parts wise.

The threads are universal.
The way the threads are formed is not.

Commercial threaded tubes (like RRA) cut the threads into the tube.
This results in a tube that needs a larger OD than Mil-spec tubes.
Mil-Spec tubes roll the threads into the tube. (hence the smaller OD)

My RRA came w/a comercial size tube, I believe it's like .004" bigger in diamater than the mil spec buffer tube or something like that.  As far as the threads being different, my vltor modstock and tube I replaced it w/works just fine.
