Why would someone pick an M4 barrel over a Heavy barrel?  What do you prefer and why?

It's not like most people are going to put a grenade launcher on the M4 and they seem like they would be weaker.

Sorry if this topic has been brought up before and I'm sure it has but I searched and couldn't come up with anything. I'm just tryin to learn

I used to have a 16" heavy barrel and swapped it with an M4 profile.  It's lighter and handles better, plus it looks cooler.

The main issue is weight and balance.  HBAR's handle like pigs, IMO.  For a utility carbine, I'll take an M4 or lightweight profile over an HBAR everyday.

An HBAR may be stronger, but I don't use my rifles as prybars.  You'd have to do something pretty drastic to bend a barrel in normal use.

What about the M4 Barrel vs the M4A1 SOCOM Barrel?

Lighter.

Plus an HBAR with accessories on the end of it is pretty nose heavy.

I could take or leave the notch, I just wanted the lighter profile under the handguards.
