I have an Olympic Arms Plinker. I had an A2 style stock on it. Installed a CAR2 stock on it. Pulled the charging handle back, let it go forward. When I did, the buffer retainer and spring 'hopped' up threw the opening in the bottom of the Bolt Carrier and stoped the bolt from continuing forward. I put the A2 stock back on it and this is still happening. I don't know what I did. Hopfully somethign simple.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to diagnose me with my vague discription.

If you need more info let me know and I might be able to explain a little better.

The buffer retainer is held in place by the buffer tube, which needs to screwed in far enough to rest on the retainer's "shoulder."

It sounds like the buffer tube is not installed all the way.  You need to hold the buffer retainer pin down and get the tube screwed in until it is overlapping the edge of the pin so it can't jump out like that.

Another OLY issue.  Returned my Alphabet gun because it wouldn't chamber a round due to extended M-4 feeder ramps bending rounds!  A POX ON OLYMPIC!

Simple fix, just turn the buffer tube one more turn probably.

if it's not missing all together.......

also there isnt there a different buffer to be used with the car stock.. that might also be it....

(FALARAK, 2005) "Thread the rifle/carbine buffer tube slowly into the receiver... taking care with the takedown pin spring. The tube should be threaded in just up to the buffer hole.... and then insert the buffer stop pin and spring:"

(FALARAK, 2005) "Then thread the tube a little more, so that it holds the pin in place, but does not touch the center part of the pin and bind its movement:"

Yes, it is important to use a carbine buffer as well when setting up a CAR type stock.

it's NOT a OLY ISSUE, dumass. talk about what you know. the tube was not screwed far enough in to hold the retainer, get another spring and retainer, about 6 bucks. some people live and learn, too bad there's a lot of parrots around here.... oly issue, oly issue.

This thread is funny to me, because yesterday I replaced the collapsable stock on my new Oly K3B with a Rock River A2 stock (hate the rattle of the collapsable).

I really didn't know what I was doing, but finally got everything together.  Took me awhile to figure out the retainer thing.

And I am cool with all the Oly haters, it let me get a Plinker Plus and a K3B NIB for about what one new Colt would cost.

Thanks all, thats exactly the problem.  I need a new retainer spring now (bent it) and a new Take Down Pin Spring (don't know where that went).
