Stickman

Can you mount the Tangodown ACB-4 on the LaRue LT15-12 rail 6 o'clock rail with it feet against the handguard nut and still have room to mount a SF M961MX infront of it or would I need to use the LaRue QD LT-101 so the MX switch can clear the bipod housing?

And of course some pictures please?

I just threw this together, and its as close as I can get.  Hopefully it gives you a rough idea of its look.  With the Daniel Defense Lite rail, there is plenty of room, but since I don't do LT rails, I can't answer that part.

Yeah Stick, you rock.
Anyway, since your here, I have a quick question too (no pics necessary).

One would have to buy a mil-spec buffer tube in order to use a CTR with a Stag Upper correct?

The upper isn't going to matter.  If you mean lower, then a milspec buffer tube/ receiver extension will work great, and a standard/ Mil CTR is what you need.

If you go with a RRA/ Bushmaster/ OA, or import tube, you will be needing the commercial CTR.

ETA-  I would go with the Mil tube unless you had a good reason not to.  Most of the vendors here carry a few variants of the mil spec sized tube, so you have choices of 4, 5 or 6 position.

Wow thanks stickman for the pictures didn’t reply sooner because I didn’t know you where lurking around her on a Friday night, thanks.

Now for another question, what I was asking about, is there enough room on the 6 o’clock rail for the surefire to mount infront of the bipod, did I word the question wrong or something or were you just using the picture with the SF mounted at 3 o’clock because you had it at your finger tips.

Sorry for the stupid questions.

I mounted it that way because that is how I tend to mount my lights when I use them, and thought you were referring to the side of the bipod that extends out when you were asking about clearance.  I'll see if I can get some pictures of the SF under the rail later on.  I'm going to try and shoot some more pictures today, but I need to finish up some other projects first.

I'll see what I can do.... who knows, I might even put the light on the way you wanted this time.

nice pics as always, stick.
neofite, how would you activate the MX switch if it's right in front of the bipod? i'd mount it on a side rail like stick did, on the weak side so it can be activated by the thumb.

because I don’t want to be going around a corner and have my light catch on it and as the world has left corners and right corners I decided that the light would be on the 6 o’clock and the Lasermax LMS-UNI Uni-Max on the 12 o’clock rail right in front of the Troy M4 sight. The MX switch so in case of something happening to the wire I’d make the sacrifice and mount it at 3 o’clock and switch it with my thumb.

I reshot the pictures, and set it up both with a 12, and 13.5" rail.  For me, there is no way I would use it in this manner.  However, the way that I clear buildings, and work a carbine may be different than you intended, so hopefully these pictures help out somewhat.

The first picture is on a 12" rail (DD RIS II A2).  The bipod is right up against the push button, and wouldn't work reliably enough for me ever when trying to stick my finger in at an angle (at that was while sitting here being lazy with no real world stress).  I don't think there is enough room to overcome this, not even with boatloads of training.

my plan was to use the tape switch mounted on my VFG and to use the MX switch only if necessary and on only if mounted on the 3 o'clock rail

Wait! Stickman does requests?  Sweet, can we get a good pic of a Robinson XCR, I have been looking for a new background for my laptop.  It would be awesome if you did a quick tutorial on taking gun pics. I would love to be able to take pictures this good.  Would I be able to do these with my fujifilm F650?

Neofite:  I'm no Stickman, but I did stay at the Holiday Inn Express last night.

I did have the Tangodown bipod for a while.  The absolute best way to have it setup is with the Tangodown VFG and then mount the flashlight wherever you want and use the cord type switch to activate the light.

Check here for details:

I don't mind doing requests for pictures if I have the time, and its something interesting.  It also needs to be something that I own myself, and since I don't own a XCR, I'm not going to be of any help on that one.  The vast majority of pictures you see are of my own gear in various configurations.

ETA-  I shoot a fair amount of my pictures with an older Olympus C-750, and it has no problems getting commercial grade pics, so I would say yours is more than good enough to shoot high quality pictures.  Its a matter of getting decent lighting, and making the most of it.  Next, you need a semi-decent layout, and lastly, is the camera.  Take lots of pictures, get familiar with what you do and don't like, and work on trying a variety of new things.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!

Back on topic Gentlemen. So can you run a TangoDown Bipod on a 12 inch rail and mount a Surefire Millennium light with a MX switch infront of it or would I need to use the LaRue QD LT-101 so the switch has enough clearance..

What if you have a suppressor mounted, won't it block much of the light?.
